Caring with Compassion
Going strong since 1996, the Homecare program is a vital arm of the ICEJ and shows Christian love to elderly Russian Jews. Our team in Jerusalem provides physical and practical care to elderly and disabled Russian Jewish immigrants, while also considering their social and emotional well-being. The care helps those who have medical problems or disabilities to be able to stay in their homes without having to be moved to an institutional facility.
Comfort through Caring
- Practical Assistance: We provide basic nursing assistance which may include showers, exercising, wound care and more. It is given with love and tenderness that is designed to lift the spirits of the elderly bound to their homes.
- Faithful Friendships: Our visits to homes can last for months or extend over several years so genuine friendships develop. Homecare is there for times of sadness or joy or even at the end of a life. The Jewish Holidays are an opportunity to reach out with a special visit and gift to share the celebration.
- Encouragement: A cornerstone of this ministry is to encourage these often lonely people, whose homecoming to Israel involves a struggle with a new language and culture. Many of them have suffered through and survived the Holocaust and have their own sad memories and trauma to which we offer comfort and attention.
- God’s love: We do this all with the powerful love that God has shown us and with the mandate of the ICEJ, ‘Comfort, comfort My people’ Isaiah 40:1
Help us reach the hearts and homes of elderly Jewish immigrants. Please partner with us so that we can continue to care with compassion here in their homeland.
