Education and Economic Empowerment
Despite an appearance of prosperity, the Israeli economy faces many challenges. These include a skyrocketing cost of living, drastic income inequality, and a growing need to upscale the skills of the Israeli workforce in order to ensure that they remain competitive in global markets and can continue to provide for their families. The majority of Israelis are employed in what is called Israel’s second economy- the domestic market within Israel that experiences low growth, high turnover, and very low wages. The majority of Israelis working in this “second economy” do not have the skills to transition into new and better employment opportunities leaving many of them either working poor or on the doorstep of poverty. This phenomenon was evidenced in Israel’s State Comptroller’s Report of 2021 where it was revealed that 69% of Israel’s workforce, or 2.7 million workers, will need to acquire new professional skills to remain relevant in the workforce.
The ICEJ recognizes these urgent issues and is working to combat these challenges by helping low-skilled workers increase their skills, thus enabling them to increase their income and avoid falling into poverty. By providing vocational training, subsidies for small businesses, and mentorship programs, the ICEJ is working to build a stronger economy by creating more skilled workers.
The ICEJ is empowering Israelis from all walks of life with practical skills that allow them to build a brighter future.
