Word from Jerusalem – ‘Our Prayers are Working’
Published on: 10.9.2024By: Staff Writers
In this issue of the Word from Jerusalem, we praise God for answering our prayers during these many long, challenging months for Israel since last October 7. Over the past 11 months, more than 25,000 Christians from over 170 nations around the globe have taken part in our daily Global Prayer Gathering to faithfully intercede for Israel and the surrounding region, and we have seen God move in powerful ways. We trust the testimonies shared on our prayer page in this magazine are a source of great encouragement to you and stir you to keep praying.
The International Christian Embassy Jerusalem is continuing to provide urgent relief aid to Israelis impacted by the current war. As you will see inside this issue, we are assisting border communities that are still recovering from the October 7 massacres by donating more ambulances and medical equipment for first responders. Additionally, we are providing more bomb shelters and sponsoring beautiful, gentle therapy horses for trauma care, particularly for children. We also are helping more Jews to return home on Aliyah flights from around the world.
Jewish people around the globe will soon be entering the High Holidays, starting with Rosh HaShanah, which marks the beginning of the Jewish New Year. In Israel, the sound of the shofar will be heard in neighbourhoods across the land as people gather in synagogues in a spirit of repentance. Families will join together for meals and, with joy, give sweet gifts to each other. Sadly, many elderly Jewish immigrants from the former Soviet republics who are under ICEJ Homecare’s program were deprived of this time of joy by the Holocaust when they were young. Read our article ‘The Sound of the Shofar – God hears the cry of the Heart’ on page 15 to see how ICEJ Homecare is ensuring these elderly immigrants are not forgotten during this special time of the year.
The Feast of Tabernacles will soon be upon us and our theme this year is ‘By My Spirit says the Lord’ (Zechariah 4:6). Be sure to read our featured Bible Teaching on page 4, where ICEJ President Dr. Jürgen Bühler presents important lessons that we can draw from the prophetic passage of Zechariah chapter 4. We welcome you to join us for the Feast either in person or online during this very special moed, or appointed time.
Thank you for partnering with us as we help the Jewish state and people overcome the many difficulties of the past year.
Blessings to you and your family as you read the latest Word from Jerusalem magazine.
