May you be blessed and encouraged as you read through our January/February issue of the Word from Jerusalem magazine.  

In our Biblical teaching, ICEJ President Dr. Jürgen Bühler draws us into the theme, “The Year of the Watchmen”. He explains the four different roles of “Watchmen” in Scripture, and emphasizes the importance of events concerning Israel serving as examples for the Church. Are you ready to take up the challenge of being a watchman for your life, your family, your community, and for Israel? 

Amid Israel’s ongoing fight against Hamas terrorism in Gaza and other fronts, there is a tendency to focus on negative news reports. Unfortunately, the conflict has led to a significant increase in antisemitic attacks worldwide. However, in his commentary ‘A Land Not Forsaken’, ICEJ Vice President and Senior Spokesman David Parsons points us to the good news that many Israelis living abroad have answered the call to return to Israel during this time of need, while a wave of Aliyah by scores of other Jews is expected in the coming months and years. He also takes an in-depth look at the genocide case against Israel brought by the South African government at the International Court of Justice in the Hague. Be sure to read more on these Current Events on pages 8-9. 

We also have to say ‘thank you’ to everyone who has been supporting Israel during these difficult times. The ICEJ has been working tirelessly to fulfil numerous requests for assistance since the beginning of the war. Our relief efforts include distributing urgent food supplies, helping evacuee families, donating ambulances, providing medical supplies and equipment, sponsoring trauma counselling, ordering additional portable bomb shelters, renovating underground shelters, and much more. We highlight some of these efforts on pages 14-16 of the magazine.

Our daily Global Prayer Gathering is growing and continues to bless thousands of attendees each day. Remarkably, Christians from 173 countries have joined the GPG over the past four months. We invite you to join us every day of the week at 4 PM (Israel time) to pray for Israel and receive the latest war update.

On page 22, be sure to read how the ICEJ’s Solidarity with Israel is reaching all corners of the globe, with even a surprise gift being sent to Israelis from evangelical Christians in Vietnam!
