Roll Call of the Nations

By: Laurina Driesse and Daniela Staengle

We have ascended to Jerusalem!

A highlight each year at the ICEJ’s Feast of Tabernacles is the Roll Call of the Nations during our opening night in Jerusalem. On this special evening, each nation represented at the Feast presents itself before the Lord in Zion, with their national flags and often in national costumes. This is a powerful demonstration of God’s Spirit moving among the nations to stir love for Him and for His people, Israel.

Last night at the Pais Arena in Jerusalem, over 2,000 Christians from more than 85 nations came before the Lord.  The stage was bursting with a colorful display of flags from every nation represented at the Feast and those joining online!

What a treat to have the Worship Symphony Orchestra from Germany open the Roll Call of the Nations last evening by playing the Israeli national anthem HaTikva!

Rev. David Pileggi opened in prayer, thanking the Lord for what He is doing in the nations today and prayed that the spirit of holiness will bring about repentance.

Israeli Knesset member Sharren Haskel, co-chair of the Knesset Christian Allies Caucus, delivered an official greeting to the Feast pilgrims and thanked the nations for coming to Jerusalem. “The prophet Zechariah spoke of a future time when all the nations would come to Jerusalem to celebrate the holiday of Succot. Look around you now. We are the living proof of the accuracy of the Bible and the truth of the Word of God,” shared MK Haskel.

The Knesset lawmaker also showed her solidarity with the current demands for women´s rights and freedom in Iran, and as a sign she pulled out a pair of scissors and cut several clips of her hair in front of the audience, which was followed by tremendous applause.

MK Haskel encouraged the representatives from over 85 countries to support the Iranian protest for female rights and freedom for all and emphasized her hopes to be able to welcome Iranian women to the Feast of Tabernacles next year in Jerusalem!

Her dramatic message at the Feast has made headlines across Israel today and is starting to go international. You can watch it HERE

Dr. Jürgen Bühler, ICEJ President, brought the main message for the evening, while beautiful praise and worship filled the auditorium as the Worship Symphony Orchestra with Siegfried Fietz (Germany), Elihana Elia (Israel), Dorothy Bedford (USA), Gilmar Britto (Brazil), Vesna Bühler (Israel) and other worship artists led Feast Pilgrims in magnificent worship expressions, accompanied by the Raise the Banner dancers from the Philippines.

Bringing fresh revelation on this year’s Feast theme, The Land of Promise, Dr. Jürgen Bühler spoke on the spiritual battle to enter the Land of Promise. “The Lord is calling you tonight to expand your borders and look out for new territories,” Dr. Bühler told the gathering. “The time has come to take your nation back to the purposes of God.”
