Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu was among the first foreign leaders to receive a phone call from incoming US President Donald Trump on Sunday. According to reports released by the White House the call lasted less than 30 minutes and included an invitation for Netanyahu to visit Washington in early February. Also discussed was the ongoing relationship with the Palestinians and Iran’s renegade nuclear program.
“I want to make clear that, as opposed to some reports that I read, stopping the Iranian threat – first and foremost, stopping the threat forgotten by the signing of the bad agreement with Iran — continues to be the supreme objective of the state of Israel,” Netanyahu told the weekly cabinet meeting earlier in the day.

Elsewhere, an Administration spokesperson answered a question from a journalist about reports of plans to move the US Embassy to Jerusalem by saying “We are the very beginning stages of even discussing this subject.”
The Israeli government also announced in recent days that it is postponing certain decisions regarding the West Bank and various other decisions until after the planned summit between Trump and Netanyahu in order to avoid creating difficulties in the renewed relationship.
Elsewhere, Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas and Jordanian King Abdullah met in Amman on Sunday to discuss their future relationship with each other as well as the new US Administration, specifically its plans to move the US Embassy from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem.
